Broadband Via Your Mobile

For a number of years, we’ve discussed and reported on broadband in the UK as well as discussing the ins and outs of ADSL. We’ve been here from the beginning and we’ll be there to the end. Over the past few months, we’ve started to switch our focus to mobile broadband. We like to follow the trends and this exciting new technology is something that we definitely want to keep up to speed on, pardon the pun.

Mobile broadband is reaching such significantly high speeds that many individuals are opting to use it instead of their fixed land line access. The costs involved in leasing such a connection are also starting to be as low as to compete with a fixed line, so why not. The only drawback is the bandwidth offered, especially if you’re a huge downloader and uploader like me. But, for the average user, the 1GB included within most packages is more than enough, and even if it isn’t. Bandwidth can be purchased at a relatively low cost. A lot cheaper than it used to be anyway.

I think during 2009, mobile broadband is going to see a huge growth and further significant speed increases. It is currently mirroring a growth pattern similar to ADSL and if that’s the case. We may see more people using 8mbps by the end of 2009.
