Compare Broadband Providers Before You Sign
When I wanted to change my internet service provider, I had to do a little research. I was on dial up (I know, I am slow to move with the times) and wanted something I could work with – a plan that allowed me to do what I had to do and each month, and also one that meant I did not spend too much money. I had to compare broadband plans, particularly with respect to how they charged for excess downloads (if they even did). There were several plans where you had to pay for excess downloads, but still more plans only throttled your speed, so after you reached your download limit you went back to a slower upload/download speed. This was both good and bad – good because I knew I would never spend more than the plan cost, and bad as (depending on how much more I had to do in the month) throttling my speeds meant decreasing the amount of work I could do in a day – I didn’t have time to sit around waiting for a page to load. In the end, I went with a plan that had high download limits but throttled my speed. It paid to shop around!
